Thawra Records is proud to present it's very first release: Kayen EP by Lebanese artist Etyen.

Kayen is the 5th solo EP by the Electronica musician, producer and Red Bull Music Academy Alumnus, releasing just a few months after his EP "Bebe" and its breakout track "Elephant in the Room" earlier in 2019.

A composer and producer with diverse musical affinities within the realm of Electronic music, Etyen has, since his debut, released 7 solo EPs and a number of singles, remixes and collaborations, with a diverse but consistently unique sound, from Cinematic, Indie and Downtempo to heavier Electronica and Techno influences. He has been a key member in the Lebanese Electronic music scene and one of the first original live Electronic acts to come out of Beirut, with a unique sound and an eclectic catalogue that saw him tour and perform at the likes of Rbma Montreal Festival, Sonar Barcelona, Mutek, and many more over the last 6 years.

With this release, Etyen explores a dreamy side of Electronica and dance music, with two original compositions 'Kayen' and 'Me Voy' both embodying lo-fi, ethereal textures and deep atmospheres with flourishing synth progressions driven by energetic and powerful grooves. Starting with the title track's ethereal ambience, and set to a punchy rhythm with a flurry of hi-hats, 'Kayen' evolves and explodes into melody with intoxicating Arpeggios. We then move into a darker and more introspective direction with 'Me Voy', driven by a simple, deep, melodic bass progression, layered with synth and vocal textures and supported by a consistent groove, it picks up the energy from the previous track with ever-growing layers of melodies that later climax and settle into a boomy minimalistic and subtle techno finale. While the EP is not, strictly speaking, a dance-floor record, Etyen's sweeping melodies, intricate rhythms and peculiar sound design all coalesce into a swirling, groovy and evocative mix that is sure to engage the listener, wherever they may be.
